A spear has a shaft that connects the point to the thrower. In a PDS, the "shaft" is an immutable blockchain ledger attached to every file. You can see who created the spear, when it was thrown, who has thrown it (forwarded it), and whether the point has been "lodged" (acknowledged or acted upon). There is no passive "read receipt."
