If you are tired of understanding Hochdeutsch (high German) only in a vacuum, and you want to actually reply when a waiter asks you a question, buy this book. Put the CDs in your stereo. Do the shadowing. Do the surgery.
Look for the "All-in-One" or the newer "Premium" edition if the classic CD version is out of print, though purists argue the original CD pacing was superior for beginners.
