However, in authentic Arabic and Quranic terms, is simply the first chapter of the Holy Quran (7 verses). There is no direct "Fatiha ceremony" mentioned in the Quran or Hadith. Yet, the act of reciting the Quran, including Surah Al-Fatiha, and donating its reward to the dead is permissible and recommended according to the majority of Sunni scholars, specifically the Hanafi school.
