| Car Class | Handbrake Behavior | Best Setting | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | | Extremely responsive; instant rotation | Low pressure (90%) to avoid spin | | Rallycross (Audi S1 RX) | Muted; requires high RPM | High pressure (115%) + Clutch kick | | Karts (Rental/Pro) | Brutally effective; locks solid | Standard pressure (100%) + Low deadzone | | Vintage TC (BMW 2002) | Weak; hydraulic fade occurs | Over-pressure (120%) + Fresh brakes |
If you have tried to drift a BMW M1 Procar or throw a classic Rallycross car into a hairpin, you might have noticed the handbrake feels either too binary (on/off) or surprisingly weak. automobilista 2 handbrake better
Now go forth, pull that lever, and paint the tarmac with tire smoke. You finally have the handbrake you deserve. Have your own secret handbrake settings? Share them in the Reiza forums. Looking for hardware recommendations? The Moza HBP and Heusinkveld Handbrake are currently the top picks for AMS2's analog sensitivity curve. | Car Class | Handbrake Behavior | Best
In the world of racing simulations, few things are as polarizing as the handbrake. For circuit racers, it’s an afterthought. For rally, drift, and karting enthusiasts, it is the difference between a podium finish and a trip into the barriers. Have your own secret handbrake settings
Create or edit a file called custom_handbrake.ini with the following:
[HANDBRAKE] MaxPressure = 120.0 // Overrides the default 100% hydraulic pressure. Lets you "over-brake" the rear. RampRate = 0.05 // How quickly pressure builds (0.01 is instant, 0.1 is slow). ThermalIncrease = 0.8 // How much the handbrake heats the rear brakes. Lower to prevent fade during long drifts. Warning: Setting MaxPressure above 130% will cause rear wheel lockup at any speed, which is great for drifting but terrible for tire wear.
